This drawing is very, very powerful, and speaks to me more than some of your others. I feel a kind of twisting in my chest when I look at it - one of the national symbols of my home country, crying tears of blood, war, and shame (at least, that's how I interpret it).

Very nicely done, I like the subject, style and composition. Also the contrast colors work well and I don't think the slight orange tint of the tears is bad - it reminds of fire.

Beautiful. The lineart is fantastic, and I love the coloring so that it actually looks to have some sort of texure on liberty herself. I really like this, and I'm not so sure on what it may or may not represent, but I probably like that, too. ^_^
wonderful job; keep it up!

nice piece. sort of focuses on the american people and the government. how the actions are affecting both. well more of the views of the world. shed in blood. really neat look. love how power and political it is. very nice. and yes, hope its all over soon and get bush out of office so alot of people would stop hating americans for the government's actions.

9-11 tribute?

I think that this is a huge misinterpretation...

Anyway, thanks for your comment.
You can interpret this cartoon the way you like.

*agrees with ~jill-calico*

and i wonder, if most americans can remember back to history class, and realize that america wouldn't have won the revolutionary war without france?

i think france should take the statue of liberty back.

Like the pic and your comment, I hope that some people will understand what you are are realy saying! Congratulation! Thats how a lot of people think here in the old world. We used to like the new world but it is getting hard....I hope this will be over soon! .....and hope the next US president will not be a
Brainless idiot! , like W,
its only for a other year than the Americans will get a new chance and can show that they understand whats happening in the whole world (E, Asia, Africa = India, China, Arabia, Australia, South Amercia and AFRICA).......!)

i LOVE the green coloring, but the tears looks a little to orange-y, i think. Beautiful line work and sentiment. May be a touch cliche, but its still great.

I too, think its amusing how Americans are choosing the french as their scapegoats, and forget that Lady Liberty, probably our most popular and recognizable icon, is French.

Dude i cant tell if this is a lament for the fallen troops or a protest but i like it. Maybe you guys should just stick to "canadian". because its to long to say "ah damn those french canadians". ;) (Wink)

Maybe I should have been more serious in the DESCRIPTION of this one!
It's a fact that the idea behind this cartoon is not very original and looks like sort of «Hollywood cliché»... Tears of blood from Miss Liberty...
This is an easy one, would you say.

But I felt that I HAD to do it, because it is so full of symbolism for me :
- just the title of FREEDOM TEARS for this piece refers directly to the U.S. name of this war OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (a lot of people are dying in the name of FREEDOM);
- it is also related to the name of this STATUE OF LIBERTY;
- this statue was made by French people and given to U.S. by France (remember the «FRENCH FRIES - FREEDOM FRIES affair» because that France was against this war);
- as a French Canadian born, and living as an American, I feel directly as if I'm a sort of little link between the «old Europa» and the «new World» (as America is often named by people of Europa).

Now, do we FRENCH CANADIANS deserve to be called FREEDOM CANADIANS?
(this one was made by my girlfriend who is sometimes more sarcastic than me)
